"Pioneer Revisited - Part II" - 12/15/2010 - Digital Mixed Media - ©Thierry Gourjon "Pioneer Revisited - Full" - (120 by 40 inch) - 12/15/2010 - Digital Mixed Media - (The Pioneer plaques are a pair of gold-anodized aluminum plaques which were placed on board the 1972 Pioneer 10 and 1973 Pioneer 11 spacecrafts, featuring a pictorial message devised by Carl Sagan and Frank Drake, in the event that either of the spacecrafts were detected and recovered in the remote future by advanced extraterrestrials. The plaques show the nude figures of a human male and female along with several symbols that are designed to provide information about the origin of the spacecraft.
